Fun Ways to Stay Active this Summer
School’s out, Summer is in full swing, and PowerUp has just the right activities to keep your brains and bodies active! PowerUp’s activities keep kids engaged and active outside of school and during the bustle of Summertime.

It is easy for us to get wrapped up in the activities of Summer and forget the importance of being active. But with the warm weather, now is the perfect time to go outside and get started. With these fun PowerUp activities, we can get our brains and our bodies moving!
Summer is full of traveling and being on the roads, so what better game to kick off Summer than PowerUp’s Crazy Cars.
Participants imagine they are driving a car. The instructor will call out different road instructions and the children will have to recognize what they mean and follow the correlated action. To keep them aware of others, the instructor should let them know they will be ‘towed’ for crashing into others.
Green light → run fast / Yellow light → walk slow / Red light → Freeze
Uphill → Lean back and march / Downhill → Lean forward
Raining → the children can pretend their arms as windshield wipers and move up and down
Under a bridge → Crouching while continuing to walk
The Name Game
Each letter represents a different exercise! Participants can spell out their name or to add to Summer fun spell out fun Summer things such as "popsicle" or "swimming". Do 10 reps or hold for 15 seconds depending on the exercise.
A - jumping jacks
B - pushups
C - situps
D - tuck jumps
E - jog with high knees
F - calf raises
G - squat jumps
H - squats
I - one-foot hops
J - jog in place
K - skip
L - lunges
M - mountain climbers
N- crab dips
O - leg raises
P - plank
Q - burpees
R - Russian twists
S - star jumps
T - arm circles
U - leg raises
V - situps
W - elbow to knee taps
X - pushups
Y - toe raises
Z - tuck jumps
