PowerUp Fitness, a Knoxville-based physical activity program used by several Cumberland County schools, has launched a new "at home" resource to help families get students moving and learning, even in their living rooms.

CROSSVILLE, TN – Glenn Martin Elementary School will join Homestead Elementary as the second Cumberland County School to start the PowerUp Your School fitness and learning program thanks to the partnership of Crossville First United Methodist Church.

Both Dandridge Elementary and Mt. Horeb Elementary are now implementing the PowerUp Your School fitness and learning program as a part of their after-school activities thanks to support from the Jefferson County Schools Office of Coordinated School Health and student volunteers from Carson Newman University.

LENOIR CITY, Tenn. — If you ever see Lenoir City Elementary Schools students leaping into the building, just know there is a method behind the movement. "I want them to exercise so we do this kindergarten through 3rd grade," kindergarten teacher Leigh Wiley said.

After teaching in Florida for a decade, physical education teacher Maggie Chandler wanted to incorporate unique ideas for her PE classes at Alexander Elementary, so she researched and spearheaded the active learning program, PowerUp Your School, coming to Alexander.

ELIZABETHTON, TN – Four Carter County schools are now using the PowerUp Your School fitness and learning program as a part of the Carter Cares After School Program thanks to the United Way of Carter County.

Spend some time with Stacy Baugues, and you’ll quickly learn that she is passionate about health, wellness and fitness. In fact, the Memphis native and competitive gymnast in high school won $3,000 in 2012 in the “Boyd Venture Challenge” at the University of Tennessee (UT), Knoxville for a fitness start-up idea.
